Welcome to our new series, Expert Voices @ Kalungi, where we showcase the department leaders driving rapid customer growth for pioneering software companies. Today, we’re featuring Amec Velásquez, our Head of Web Development.
Amec has led Kalungi’s web development initiatives since 2023, bringing over a decade of experience in transforming B2B SaaS websites into powerful growth engines. His expertise in combining technical excellence with marketing strategy has helped several software companies achieve T2D3 growth targets.
Amec’s journey into web development began while earning his Electrical Engineering degree when he discovered a passion for solving “useful puzzles.” The instant gratification of seeing his work come to life sparked his focus on website development.
Based in Honduras, Amec lives with his partner and son.
According to Amec, website development trends mirror creative trends. The primary trend is a split between people who love 3D or interactive animation and those who prefer a simpler, streamlined website. For developers, the challenge lies in balancing creatively with usability. Heavy animations can hinder performance, particularly for users on mobile devices or older computers.
“The creative team is the architect, and the web dev team is the engineer or builder.”
Despite WordPress powering 43% of all websites, Amec isn’t a fan of the CMS. He recommends HubSpot as the best website builder, saying, “Your website is a marketing tool. HubSpot provides you with good performance for marketing and is easy to edit.”
Importantly, the HubSpot CRM also links with your CMS, providing you with excellent website data stored in the same database as all your contacts, reports, and metrics.
It’s a system that provides you with easy-to-edit design and content modules but doesn’t overwhelm your team, so performance remains strong. Also, by not custom coding your website, you gain flexibility. As your business scales, keeping your website stable doesn’t become a burden for your founders or product team.
One of Amec’s standout projects is Atlas 2, Kalungi’s Hubspot theme tailored for B2B SaaS companies. Amec oversaw the creation of Atlas 2, which he describes as his dream project.
He describes Atlas as:
The Kalungi developers built Atlas to provide clients with an efficient framework for their new websites. “All our developers are HubSpot specialists. It's easier for us to build something quicker. We also already have a base with our themes, be that pro or Atlas 2, and internally, we have templates and tools to jumpstart every project.”
Why outsource web development when your in-house team is already talented? Amec points out key advantages:

Outsourcing ensures your website gets the undivided attention of CMS specialists without distracting your team from product development.
Amec highlights three key aspects to evaluate a web developer's performance:
Our last question for Amec is about a success story for Kalungi web development. He declines to take full credit, “Content and design have such an impact on a website.”
We push him until he tells us about a website that his team made for StratusGrid, a cloud consulting company and an AWS cost optimization product.
When they started with Kalungi, their website was very simple and reflected old branding. Kalungi’s development team took it, rebranded their website, and included interactive and 3D models. Finally, the website properly showcases the company’s sophisticated products and popular business models.
We wind down our interview by asking Amec why he enjoys working at Kalungi. He tells us he loves Kalungi’s culture, making it a great workplace. He also loves working with many B2B SaaS companies innovating in their area.
Amec’s insights reflect the importance of balancing creativity with functionality in web development. Whether using a powerful CMS like HubSpot, crafting innovative templates like Atlas, or providing specialized expertise to B2B SaaS companies, Kalungi’s web development team is focused on building tools that empower our clients to succeed.
